Throughout Trastevere, my neighborhood, and the rest of Rome central; all of the roads are made with Sampietrini. Last night on my 40 minute run I almost felt like I was in the Steens Mountains on a trail the way my knees were wobbling and my feet were turning in all directions. The only thing missing was the sting of a nettle or scrapes from sagebrush. (ok, a lot more was missing). The Sampietrini are part of what make Rome such a romantic city to visit or live in. I appreciate them for their ability to strengthen my ankles but they've eaten at least a few pairs of my high heels. :) The following is a short about them I made with a few people last year...enjoy!
