Lunchtime run: I've got a shower AND a bath if I want at my office which makes me quite lucky, I'd say... eh eh eh ...55 minutes + 5 x 100m strides. Who needs an entire hour for lunch anyhow?

The cafe' nearest my office has an amazing sandwich that I can munch while I'm working. A mini-baguette with brie and walnuts, heated up on a grill. Decadent. I remember that Fred Meyer in NW Portland makes some pretty good baguette and they must have brie and walnuts...

"Walnuts are not only tasty, but they're good for you. They`re low in saturated fats, have no cholesterol, and are high in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats (the good fats) which can lower "bad" cholesterol levels (LDL) without damaging good cholesterol (HDL).

Walnuts also contain iron, minerals and fiber, and contain no sugar. They provide the nutritional benefits of tree nuts that are enjoyed in the now-popular and healthy Mediterranean diets."

Today my mother, a perpetual optimist and my personal lighthouse, sent me an email. She is so proud of me for getting my determination back and I'm equally proud of her....

My mom was a light smoker when I started high school and started running. One year later she quit (I begged daily and used to throw packs of cigarettes in the fireplace when noone was watching) and began doing step aerobics. After I started becoming serious about racing, she decided to try out this running thing and see what was making everyone so entusiastic.

My mother recently completed her third Boston Marathon and ran the New York Marathon last year.

...Anyhow, she sent me this link: Tips to get you motivated to run I am pleased that the number one motivation tip on their list is: "Create a Blog". :D I feel one step ahead of the game...eh eh eh

There, you can also sign up for a Runner's World "Daily Kick in the Butt". Fantastic.
